The New District 25
The new District 25 is the vision for the East River Waterfront. Today, the Waterfront has been isolated from the city by the FDR Highway. District 25 embraces the present separation to conceptualize the Waterfront as a new district for the island of Manhattan and as a new icon for NYC. The new waterfront embraces the skyscraper culture that simbolizes New York and gives a fresh take on it, devoloping Disitrict 25 as an urban landscraper. By 2050 80% of the worlds population will live in cities. For this reason, District 25’s main focus of the urban landscraper is on the development of urban agriculture, promoting the urbanization of the landscape and the industrialization of agriculture. Through the promotion of activities the include: urban farming, bicycle use, fish farming, water harvesting and filtration, passive water sports, among other activites, District 25 encourages a sustainable lifestyle .
